A highly respected trial attorney, Donald has successfully litigated over 100 jury trials to verdict, earning a reputation as a tenacious advocate in the courtroom. Within the first three years after graduating from law school, Donald obtained verdicts and settlements that were widely reported in Chicago and national news publications. In 2023, he co-founded Angelini & DiLeo Law, where he continues to serve as a trusted legal advisor in corporate litigation and business transactions, family law, estate litigation, personal injury, and federal criminal defense.
Donald focuses his practice on commercial and corporate litigation, civil rights and federal criminal defense, family law and estate litigation. He has handled complex high-value divorce litigation, child custody disputes, asset division, business valuations, and high-stakes domestic relations cases, including removal and relocation matters. His commercial litigation experience includes representing businesses in contract disputes, partnership dissolutions, and restrictive covenant matters, such as non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. He has also successfully defended individuals in high-profile federal cases and complex chancery matters, as well as advising clients on contested wills, trust disputes, and fiduciary claims.
His career includes several landmark achievements, including a $3.25 million life insurance settlement, the highest reported payment in Cook County history after a claim was previously denied under allegations of fraud, and a $3.35 million settlement for the estate of an elderly man tragically killed in a trucking accident. Donald has secured numerous victories in appellate courts, including arguments before the Illinois Appellate Court (First and Second Districts) and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Donald was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, and attended Fenwick High School before earning his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1983. He obtained his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 1986 and was admitted to practice law in Illinois that same year. After beginning his legal career at the prestigious firm Hinshaw & Culbertson, Donald partnered with his brother to establish Angelini & Angelini, a respected litigation firm they successfully operated for 25 years.
He is admitted to practice before the Illinois Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the United States District Court for the Eastern Division of Wisconsin. He has also been admitted pro hac vice in California, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Indiana, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Ohio.
Beyond his legal work, Donald is deeply involved in the community and has a passion for mentoring young athletes. He serves as legal counsel for the Bill George Youth Football League (BGYFL) and is a former board member of the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), where he co-chaired the Rules and Ethics Committee. A longtime resident of Oak Brook, Illinois, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons or engaging in friendly competition on the pickleball courts or golf course.
